About our School

A Note from Mr. Moore

Dear Leadership Academy at Forest Oak Families,

Lion Families, Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am thrilled to welcome both our returning families and those who are new to LAFO. It is truly a privilege to partner with you in your child’s educational journey. This year, our school-wide theme is “ROARing to an A”- a reflection of our determination to rise, overcome challenges, and achieve excellence, and remain resilient as a school community. We are committed to creating a positive, supportive, and high-achieving learning environment where every child feels valued and empowered.

As many of you know, our building is currently undergoing construction. While this brings a few temporary changes, it also signals growth and exciting improvements ahead. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility during this time. Despite the construction, our focus on student success remains stronger than ever. At LAFO, our vision is clear:

To inspire and empower all students to excel both academically and socially.

We believe that education is a shared responsibility, and your support plays a vital role in ensuring each child reaches their full potential. Together, we will build strong relationships, foster a love for learning, and create a school culture where every student thrives. We are ROARing into the new year with energy, purpose, and a relentless commitment to excellence. I look forward to working together and celebrating the many achievements to come!

With gratitude,

Mr. Steven Moore

School History

Forest Oak Middle School opened on September 7, 1954, as Forest Oak Junior High. Lead by school principal Mr. W.L. Butler, the school served 787 students and boasted the motto, "In essentials, unity; In non-essentials, liberty; In all things, charity." The building's original construction on a 10-acre lot for $625,000 quickly required expansions to accommodate the rapid increase in enrollment. To better serve the almost 1,400 students enrolled, expansion work began to create additional cafeteria space and a new academic wing.

Today, the school serves over 1,000 6th, 7th, and 8th grade scholars. Our mascot, the Mighty Lion, symbolizes power, courage, and nobility.
