About the LAFO STEM Advanced Academics Track
At the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak, our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Advanced Academics Track is designed to challenge, inspire, and accelerate student learning from day one. Here, STEM is more than coursework - it’s a launchpad for future engineers, scientists, and leaders.
Beginning in 6th grade, students entering the STEM track engage in a rigorous, advanced course sequence that includes Algebra, Geometry, Biology, and Career Technical Education (CTE) electives. This accelerated pathway allows students to move beyond traditional grade-level expectations and begin tackling high school-level coursework early.
Who Should Apply?
The 2026–2027 LAFO STEM Advanced Academics Track is open to incoming sixth-grade students who:
- Demonstrate a strong interest in STEM-related fields
- Are eager to extend their learning beyond the classroom
- Aspire to pursue STEM careers and college-level coursework in high school
- Have a strong record of academic achievement
LAFO STEM Advanced Academics Courses
Through this advanced progression, students have the opportunity to earn high school credit while still in middle school, giving them a powerful academic advantage as they prepare for high school and beyond. Our STEM program emphasizes: Critical thinking and problem-solving, real-world application of math and science, and preparation for advanced high school pathways, including advanced placement (AP) and career-focused programs.
Students leave the program not only ahead academically, but equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed in college, careers, and a rapidly evolving world.
